Survivor attack case tied to Ramirez fugitive in Texas
A 20 year old University of Kentucky junior finance major and her 21 year old boyfriend Christopher Maier were attacked on Aug 29 1997. Maier died at the scene while the woman survived after being beaten raped and left for dead. Investigators link the suspect Rafael Resendez Ramirez to multiple killings in Texas and Illinois. An uncle in Mexico says the fugitive’s real name is Angel Resendiz. Lexington police praised Maier as a hero for offering help to spare the woman.
