A Government report from the U S Health and Human Services Department finds seven in ten seventh and eighth graders have tried drugs. In response, a series of free drug abuse prevention workshops for Chicago teachers begins this summer, co sponsored by the Central States Institute of Addiction and Chicago Alcoholic Treatment Center, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle in July and August.
Odessa resident Dorlese Perkins sent a crib sized quilt and pillow case to the Prince and Princess of Wales after the baby’s birth. A letter from Lady Becket-Smith to Perkins dated June 14 conveyed royal thanks. Perkins, who has made baby blankets since 1981, said the quilt features white velvet with satin trim and a flower leaf quilting pattern.
