Gore wins endorsement from Iowa state workers union
Vice President Al Gore accepted the endorsement of Council 61 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the largest union for Iowa state workers. The backing adds organized labor operatives to Gore's Iowa caucus effort as Bradley allies watched. The union represents about 23,000 state workers with 12,000 active members and is a major force in Iowa Democratic politics. Gore pledged to work for working men and women as he praised labor organizers and introduced a campaign video featuring Clinton.
