Unleaded fuel problems raise owner complaints and EPA alarm
Consumer groups, automakers, and the EPA warn many motorists experience performance loss with 91 octane unleaded gasoline. EPA notes that 91 octane may not satisfy newer cars, with 10 to 40 percent of owners affected. Automakers report varying knock complaints, yet insist no engine damage occurs.
