Appeals court refuses rehearing in Elian custody case
The 11th Circuit in Atlanta unanimously denies the Miami relatives’ request for rehearing on Elian Gonzalez custody. The court says no further stays or injunctive relief will be considered and directs any future stays to the Supreme Court, as the boy’s possible return to Cuba looms next week.

Train worker tests positive for cocaine in derailment
