Texas White House remains private home
The Texas White House, once Ross Sterling's grand seaside mansion near Morgan's Point, has aged into neglect amid vandals and weather. After a 40-year saga of proposals, sales, and zoning fights, developer Jack Brown and later James Osbourn acquired it, with plans to restore or repurpose while preserving its heritage amidst local resistance to public access and high maintenance costs.

Virginia E Mayes, 76, was found dead August 1 at her 12 acre Gulf Coast estate near Houston. Investigators had weighed murder but autopsy and new evidence led to a ruling of accidental suffocation after she seemingly blacked out and rolled face down into shag carpeting. The estate valued at about 4 million dollars was left to relatives and employees.
