Defendent Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

A 29 year old quadriplegic Reymundo Garcia Carrasco was found guilty of murder without malice by a 70th District Court jury and sentenced to three years in prison. The case stems from a March 19 1971 shooting during a dispute at El Patio Drive In where the victim Apolinar Gonzales Carrasco died and another relative Juan Gonzales Carrasco was paralyzed. The defense plans a motion for a new trial and the judge noted concerns about securing the defendant to a Texas prison given his condition.
