Handel wins costly South Carolina House race in Clinton district

The race, billed as the most expensive House contest to date with estimates near 50 million, ends with Handel prevailing in a historically conservative, affluent district. Democrats still face 24 GOP-held seats to regain a majority, as donors and volunteers are urged to back liberal priorities after a difficult stretch of special elections. Handel, 55, highlighted district ties and campaign contrasts with Ossoff, who grew up in the district but resides in Atlanta.
