Five Negroes filed what a Georgia official says is probably the nation’s first federal suit against segregated polling places. The Albany Ga action seeks desegregation of polling places and voting lists in Albany and Dougherty County.
Blanch Juanita Harmon 48 a McCamey housewife was found dead Tuesday at home by her husband William Harmon a roofer. Deputy said she took medicine prescribed for pain and autopsy results await chemical tests. Born Denver Colorado she had lived in McCamey two months and previously years. Survived by husband three sons Juanita Jenson a daughter seven grandchildren. Funeral arrangements pending at Moore Crites Funeral Home.
In Austin UPI reports the Price Daniel task force hears from senators and representatives proposing tax plans. Sen George Parkhouse pushes a universal sales tax while critiquing political posturing. Rep Ben Atwell and Rep Bob Eckhardt outline bills on selective sales taxes and pipeline gas taxation.
George E. Atkins twenty one of Fort Stockton has been awarded a two thousand fifty dollar graduate assistantship from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces to study for a master’s degree in mathematics. He will work halftime in the data reduction section of the physical science laboratory and the award is renewable for 1962 63. Atkins is the son of Mrs. Rose B. Atkins and a Fort Stockton High School graduate.
The Range Animal Husbandry Department of Sul Ross State College will host a wool short course for ranchers and agricultural leaders from June 23 to 30. Training covers wool grading marketing and selection improvement programs for range sheep with Jack Ruttle of New Mexico State University leading the program.

Stevenson entered Bogota safely and dined near the presidential palace as police managed crowd activity.
