Rozelle shifts stance on NFL drug use
NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle says drug use in the league could be a larger problem than society, while former defensive end Carl Eller claims up to 40 percent of players have experimented with cocaine and up to 25 percent are in the problem stage. Eller notes at least one problem player per club and several clubs with four or five needing treatment. Don Reese later alleged cocaine use is widespread across multiple teams.
