Satellite to photograph hurricane life cycle using TIROS III
NASA plans to launch TIROS III aboard a Thor Delta rocket in July to track an entire hurricane from its infancy to decay. The satellite will carry two TV cameras and infrared sensors to map cloud, earth, and ocean temperatures and heat balance. Seeding tests may be conducted far offshore to study weather effects without altering a storm’s path.
