Ranchers use ladders to spare fences along Texas border
In South Texas ranches near La Copa, owners install simple ladders on fences to encourage migrants to cross at known points and save fence lines from slashing by illegal entrants. The La Copa area lies just south of a Border Patrol checkpoint, 75 miles north of the border, within a saturation zone. Immigrants walk long distances to bypass checkpoints in extreme heat.
