Medical Plans Discussion is Tuesday
The State Insurance Board will hold a Thursday hearing to decide if prepaid medical plans or HMOs can be established under Texas law. Christie said HMOs could offer high quality care at affordable prices and need board review. Testimony is expected from Texas Medical Association officials Prudential spokesmen and Houston doctors, with Rep. Mickey Leland invited. Christie cited federal data showing a family of two adults and three children could save about 115 dollars annually in out of pocket costs. Authorities would regulate HMOs except for direct medical questions.

Four Theft Cases Probed In Odessa On Saturday Night
Odessa police investigated four thefts including a ring valued at 200 dollars taken from the Odessa Country Club swimming pool. Victims included Mark Evitt of 2921 Chisum offering the ring, Benjamin Laney of 2701 East Lith reporting 80 dollars and a shirt, a city employee reporting two traffic cones at 1516 North Golder, and Richard Pasley of 1804 North Milburn noting a stolen bicycle.
