Car hits group heading to school injuring woman and children
In Bridgeport, a car plowed into pedestrians en route to school injuring a woman and four children. Tanisha Soto, 9, dragged under the car, is in critical condition. Anthony Rivera, 5, and Juan Soto, 6, in serious condition. Blanca Soto, 40, and Frankie Sanchez, 9, treated and released. Driver Joseph Fernandez, 43, charged with improper driving.

Man Sentenced in Russian Prostitution Smuggling Case
SAN DIEGO AP A Los Angeles man convicted of smuggling Russian women into California to work as prostitutes received five years in prison. Alexander Rashkovski 59 stopped at the Mexican border in 1999 trying to enter San Diego with two women. He was also convicted of smuggling a third Russian woman into Los Angeles. The women were to pay smuggling fees to Rashkovski and his wife Nataliya Kozlova 33 who fled in May after bail and is sought by authorities.

Louisiana House approves sentencing change for nonviolent crimes
