Reds Bench to retire after 1983 season
Johnny Bench, 35, will retire after the 1983 season with the Cincinnati Reds. The 13 time All Star and Hall of Fame candidate informed Reds President Dick Wagner this week after Cincinnati beat the San Diego Padres 81. Bench went 1 for 2 with an RBI in that game and has 6 homers and 31 RBIs, splitting time at third and first base.
