Two South Carolina students expelled from Hungary on illegal tour
VIENNA June 8 Two South Carolina college students Mike A Gilbert Walterboro and Warren W Hair North Augusta had their passports revoked by the U S consulate after an illegal excursion into Communist Hungary. They were jailed since May 26 and expelled last night. Consular officials warned they face a formal talk and possible decision by the State Department whether to allow further travel or send them home. The youths, who carried cameras, told reporters they might repeat the trip, prompting officials to stress passport rules and border restrictions. The men remain in lodging arranged by the consulate while the State Department weighs their maturity and respect for passports.
