Craddick says Perry to call short session on school funding
Midland restaurateur Jose Cuevas Jr notes Perry has not chosen a noon location for a Perry appearance but will be at a new home. Craddick expects a October or November 30 day session to replace Robin Hood with a new school finance plan while June talks may address redistricting. He recalls a May walkout by 51 House Democrats and jokes about floor locking. He touts budget balance without new taxes, cites cuts in colleges saved by late session funding, and highlights tort reform efforts and Delaware loophole. Odessa and Midland economic groups may cooperate on large projects.
