Walton case settles in Portland five years after NBA title

An out of court settlement ended Bill Walton’s 5.6 million lawsuit against Trail Blazers team doctor Dr. Robert Cook and the Oregon City Orthopedic Clinic. Walton alleged negligence in diagnosing a foot injury from 1977-78. terms were not disclosed.

Thompson Advances To British Amateur Final At Royal Cinque Ports

British teenager Martin Thompson, 18, defeated Peter Hedges 3 and 1 to reach the British Amateur final at Royal Cinque Ports Club. He will meet Andrew Stubbs, who beat Philip Parkin 4 and 2 in the other semifinal, in a 36 hole final. Stubbs had earlier defeated Kristin Moe 1-up and Parkin beat Wilhelm Winsnes 2-up in the quarterfinals. Moe, from Alameda, California, was the only American in the last eight.
