Sovereign citizen jailed for filing fraudulent court records
A self proclaimed sovereign citizen Warren Kenneth Nelson received 100 days in jail after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of filing fraudulent court records. He was credited for time served and released from Ector County Jail. One felony count of impersonating a public servant was dismissed. He must also pay court costs, but credit was given due to indigence. Nelson had walked into the County Clerk office in December 1997 to pressure clerks into filing documents he signed as a special marshal. He warned government workers they face dire outcomes and elimination by powers beyond them. He was the first Ector County resident charged under a new statute banning frivolous lawsuits.
