Odessans weigh West Texas Minuteman chapter
About 40 Odessa residents met at Alliance Hospital to consider forming a West Texas chapter of the Arizona Minuteman Project. Organizer Shane Marler described it as a neighborhood watch with a focus on noting illegal activity and calling the Border Patrol. The group plans to remain non-confrontational and will not engage with immigrants unless, or until, someone needs help.

Court OKs trip at vendor's expense to Canada

West Odessa woman killed in Redondo Ave crash
An Odessa woman, 31, died after a two car collision at Redondo Avenue and 20th Street. Crystal Thompson was pronounced dead at 5 49 pm. A four year old girl in her car sustained non incpacitating injuries while driver Juan D Salazar, 30, was uninjured. Emergency crews used hydraulic cutters to free Thompson from a white 1995 Chevrolet Corsica.

Regional rim rail line picks to run container terminal
The La Entrada al Pacifico Rail District selected Permian Basin Railways to operate a mid cities container handling facility near Odessa. Mike George of the Odessa Chamber said negotiations are under way and they aim to have the terminus running by year end. The project will load and unload rail cars and transfer freight between transport modes. Henry Weller of Iowa Pacific Holdings called the venture a positive opportunity for LEAPAR and the rail line.
