Odessa group installs officers colors theme annual event
The Odessa Educational Secretaries' Association held its annual installation in the Flame Room of the Pioneer Natural Gas Company. Mrs. Annie Jim White installed officers for 1980 81 with the theme Colors, followed by a salad supper. Pictured are new officers Lydia Arellano Bitsy Thackerson Helen McLaurin Lynda Allman Mary Ann Miles Nelda Loya. The Hispanic Women's State Conference met at the Inn of the Golden West with attendees from multiple Texas cities.

Finalist Connie Reed, 16, daughter of Mr and Mrs Jimmie Reed of 505 Douglas Drive, has been chosen as a State finalist for the 1980 Miss United Teenager Pageant to be held in Fayetteville North Carolina on August 2. Reed attends Permian High School as a junior and is sponsored by her parents. Contestants are judged on Scholastic Civic Achievements Beauty Poise and Personality with no swimsuit segment. Each entrant will write and recite a 100 word essay on My Country. Ages range 14 to 18 and a minimum B average is required.

Lena Collier 90th Birthday Observed by Belmont Baptists
Lena Collier celebrated her 90th birthday at her daughter Mrs J B Prickett's home 1108 West 23rd with relatives and Belmont Baptist Church members. Born May 19 1890 in Granbury she married Leslie Collier in 1907 and farmed near Loraine. Surviving children include Mrs Gertrude Peterson Andrews Mrs Alton Thompson David Collier Odessa Mrs Alma Brock Minneola Cecil Collier California and Doug Collier Belton. She has 21 grandchildren 26 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
