Stem cell gift saves boy life and changes donor too
A University of Florida student donor matched to a 5 year old in Chicago for a marrow transplant. The procedure in 2009 saved Jacob Kowalik from acute leukemia, despite graft versus host disease. Donor Marshal Davis later learned of Jacob’s progress and they exchanged notes and cards.
