Water authority won't hike rates despite budget woes

The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority, amid a costly legal battle over T. Boone Pickens Mesa Water permits, saw legal fees swell beyond 368000 by June from a budget of 30000. Authority officials say the overages won’t raise rates for 11 Panhandle and South Plains cities as costs are absorbed alongside other projects.

Man gets life for shooting police officer in Texas

A 23 year old Edwin Delamora was found guilty in the February 2001 shooting death of Travis County Deputy Keith Ruiz. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty. Delamora fired through a front door window as officers tried to break into his Del Valle mobile home claiming defense of his home.
