South Dakota church eyes restoration and museum plan
Crisostomo says a chapel will be restored as a new house of worship and the church may keep four residential properties with possible additions. A Johnsonville museum may open. the group bought Scenic in South Dakota but offers no Connecticut plans. Officials say intentions remain unclear while outreach to Pine Ridge Reservation grows and members increase. The Iglesia Ni Cristo, founded in 1914, has a global presence with millions of followers and three Connecticut congregations. The Connecticut site began as Neptune Twine and Cord Mill Factory in the 1800s, later moved buildings but never became a major tourist draw.
