Man freed after 14 years in prison by DNA ruling

Indianapolis AP has Jerry E. Watkins 43 freed after 14 years of a 60 year sentence for the rape and murder of 11 year old Margaret Peggy Sue Altes. US District Judge David F Hamilton overturned the murder conviction in April as DNA tests showed Watkins could not have raped the child. Prosecutors dropped appeal and the judge ordered his release.
