Beirut hijacker surrenders after Middle East Airlines plane seizure
A Shiite hijacker aboard a 146 passenger MEA Boeing 707 seized the Abu Dhabi to Beirut flight with a fake Molotov. He released most passengers, allowed a photo session, then surrendered to Beirut police. no one was harmed. He claimed to target attention for south Lebanon under Israeli occupation. two others were allegedly present but proved nonexistent. Zein, in his 50s, was held by prosecutors after surrender.
