Missing men survive 14 hours on Lake Erie
Two Sandusky men Matt Stookey 31 and Peter Sostark 33 ran out of gas on a Jet Ski and floated for 14 hours in Lake Erie three miles from shore before Coast Guard rescue. They were found near Tillegree Bay after dawn and treated for hypothermia.

Columbine library becomes atrium with Rocky Mountain view
In Littleton Colorado the bullet scarred Columbine library was replaced by a two story atrium overlooking the foothills. Victim families raised 3.3 million for the atrium and crews finished the space ahead of the August 14 return. A mural of treetops and sky will decorate the ceiling. The 1999 attack by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 students and a teacher, with most carnage in the library.

Shortage of Snakebite Serum Warnings Sounded
The report notes a limited supply of snakebite antivenin across the United States with about 15 deaths linked to venom exposure. Dr Robert Hendrickson of the University of Pennsylvania stresses concern as summer bites rise mainly in the Southeast and Southwest. Hi-Desert Medical Center in California says bites are not common but would rely on a network to obtain serum if depleted. The serum, costing around 450 dollars per vial, requires 20 to 40 vials per serious bite, with horse-derived antibodies providing the treatment.

An unidentified man threatening Amtrak police with a metal chair was shot in the chest by an officer in the main concourse of Philadelphia's 30th Street Station. He died at Hahnemann University Hospital as parts of the station closed briefly.
