Odessa City Council restores CVB funding and approves hotel plan
Odessa City Council voted 4-1 to restore more than 200000 dollars to the Odessa Convention and Visitors Bureau budget, raising the CVB to 976480 dollars and adding 40000 dollars to recruit sports events. The move followed Chamber of Commerce protests as the city also advanced a master development contract for a Texas Avenue Fifth Street hotel and conference center with about 30.8 million dollars in city investment. The council also approved truck traffic restrictions downtown and a series of capital and public safety measures under a broad slate of 2016-17 actions.
