James Bowie signature found on prenup agreement
A rare James Bowie signature appears on an 1831 marriage contract filed with Mexican authorities, a document recovered from Bowie's probate file in Bexar County archives. The four page prenup lists Bowie's assets and dowry claims, with an estimated value of 150 000 pesos, and bears Bowie's fading signature near the fourth page. Bowie died at the Alamo in 1836, making the signed document a unique relic of Texas frontier history.
