Generation X not apathetic says Gore and Bush relatives
Gore daughter Karenna Schiff and George P. Bush say Generation X cares and seeks inspiration to engage in politics. Schiff notes money and information access fuel ironic detachment while urging reform. Bush cites student enthusiasm and public service rewards to counter apathy. A Newsweek poll finds 65 percent of 18 to 21 year olds will vote, yet 71 percent see themselves less politically active than prior generations.
