Presbyterians vote to bar ministers from gay ceremonies
The Presbyterian Church (USA) moved to bar ministers from officiating gay commitment ceremonies and to prohibit such ceremonies on church property, despite debates at the annual convention and ongoing division over homosexuality. The amendment, ratified by a narrow vote, overrules a prior ruling allowing local congregations to conduct homosexual unions.
