Two bills sent to a June assembly seek a formal split in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) over theology and ordination of homosexual clergy. One bill declares two mutually exclusive theologies and an irreconcilable impasse, while the other would allow liberal congregations to leave with their buildings after a task force rewrites church law. The measures were prepared by Rev. Jeff Arnold and approved by a regional unit north of Pittsburgh.
