Seven Polish factories join general strike in southeast regions
At least seven plants halted operations in southeast Poland as Solidarity called a regional general strike over union registration delays. In Rzeszow five city plants and two nearby factories, including an aircraft factory, stopped work at 7 am. Protests spread to Lodz and other cities as students demanded academic freedom and an end to compulsory Marxism classes.
