K-9 Mormel Joins Dallas Police After Training Delays
Mormel, a new K-9 purchased through Adlerhorst International of California, arrived in Dallas on January 18 and has spent three days on the job. Officer Strahan states Mormel must pass narcotics and patrol tests, including pursuit, bite control, and stopping criteria, before field use. Training spans one to two months with monthly trainer and in-house work, while Strahan compares the process to prior K-9 Kazoe, who was struck in pursuit of 18-year old Angel Herrera Morales on December 30. Morales was later arrested.
