Major hurricane forecast targets Texas coast in 20 years
San Antonio AP report notes at least one major hurricane likely to strike the Texas coast in the next two decades, with extensive property damage and higher insurance costs. Colorado State University meteorologist William Gray predicts an active season this year with 13 named storms, eight hurricanes, and a possible slight El Niño reducing annual risk. He cites a 30 to 40 percent higher than normal chance for Texas landfall this year and a four to fivefold increase over the next 20 years. Gray urges caution, evacuation readiness, and adherence to official warnings.
