In Tampa Florida police accuse 53 year old retired Master Sgt William Conroy and his wife of aggravated child abuse and neglect for delaying treatment of his 17 year old daughter Mari with Hodgkin’s disease. Mari became unconscious weighed 60 pounds and suffered brain damage from oxygen loss after the tumor pressed on her heart and lungs. The parents fled with two younger sons. Conroy later said he and his wife believed she was improving. The family home was described as dirty with cockroaches and mold.
