Rest areas echo Rattlesnake Bomber Base design in Texas
TxDOT plans new I-20 rest areas near Pyote with a control tower and hangar motif from the abandoned Rattlesnake Bomber Base, completed in 1943. The site will feature squadron seals, Monahans Sand Hills and oilfield exhibits, nature trails, a playground, and 24 hour officer offices. Groundbreaking is Feb 1 with completion expected May 2012.
