Settlement concerns over Huntsman plant group disbursements
The December 2000 confidential settlement with Huntsman left many NAACP LULAC litigants unhappy with checks of 217.48 to 900 dollars. Protesters curse the process as unfair while attorneys admit high costs and secrecy. Local leaders deny mishandling funds, noting a phase one settlement and an ongoing appeal mechanism for disbursements.
