Jungle Book comes to Permian Playhouse with student cast
Kaleidoscope Company seventh to twelfth graders present a modified Jungle Book by Joseph Robinett at Permian Playhouse this month. The play blends Kipling’s tale with a classroom drama featuring Rudyard Kipling as a writer and Mowgli raised by wolves. Lead Josh Smith, 15, plays Mowgli while Kim Hunt, 14, plays Hanly and Tabaqui. The director Victor Lopez notes a wide age range and uses upright animal portrayals with masks to maintain human focus.
