Odessa man guilty in stabbing at transitional housing
AVILA was found guilty Thursday in Judge James Rush's 244th District Court of stabbing Donny Kyker after an argument over alcohol at a transitional housing facility. Odessa police arrested Octavio Navarrette Jr 28 at 4 p.m. on burglary of a habitation a second degree felony and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant with help from residents. Midland man sentenced in meth death case
Senior U.S. District Judge Robert A. Junell sentenced 23 year old Zane Paul O Oneal to 23 years in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine that led to the death of Sandy Brooke Franklin. O Neal admitted supplying about three grams and directing her to ingest it after her arrest. Texan charged in killing of two whooping cranes
An 18-year-old from Southeast Texas, Trey Frederick, was charged with illegally shooting two yearling whooping cranes about 18 miles west of Beaumont. Federal agents arrested him the same day. he faces up to six months in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted. The birds were part of a Louisiana release program near White Lake Wetlands, now down to 44 wild cranes.
