Young riders shine at Sandhills kids rodeo event
Harri Kenney aged 8 and Lonnie Hickey 7 joined peers in clown garb for mock barrel racing and bull riding. Pistol Wagner 7 described four years in the kids rodeo as fun, while Giselle Acosta 10 joined for the first time after sister Samantha, 12, challenged her. The Watts brothers, 5 and 6, enjoyed barrel racing and bull riding as Ermila Watts praised the sport as positive for her sons. The Sidewinders, ninth grade and up, organize the event with proceeds funding next year’s rodeo and scholarships. Kenney noted at least 50 children were expected.
