Divers claim 1811 wreck of Perry ship found at Watch Hill
Providence reports divers Charles Buffum and Craig Harger, aided by Mike Fournier, locating cannons and an anchor from the USS Revenge off Westerly Rhode Island. The 1801 wreck, tied to Oliver Hazard Perry, is dated to 200 years ago with recovered artifacts suggesting the vessel's identity, though no bell or definitive proof yet. They seek Navy salvage with confirmation from the Naval History & Heritage Command.
