Odessa Council Deliberates City Manager Candidates
The Odessa City Council met in a 20 minute closed executive session Tuesday to discuss qualifications of three potential city manager candidates none of whom had formally applied. Mayor Larry Melton noted no official applicants and said some candidates were Odessa employees or not, without naming them. District 5 Councilwoman Berta Calzada confirmed three were discussed, one recommended by Melton and two by Councilman Jim Morris, with identities withheld. Interim City Manager Richard Morton said he plans to apply but was not interviewed. The session contradicted Melton’s earlier Monday prediction.
