MIT and EFI sue 94 firms over patented image editing software

MIT and Electronics For Imaging filed a Texas federal lawsuit asserting unauthorized use of their patented image editing software by 94 companies including Microsoft. EFI holds the license for the software developed by MIT professor William Schreiber. The patent expires this year. EFI seeks past license fees, but a spokesman did not disclose amounts.
