Nudity on remote Gulf Coast beach upheld as crime by appeals court
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled public nudity remains a crime even on a secluded Gulf Coast beach. David Lacour, a Kountze highway department worker, sunbathed naked with about 100 nudists and was convicted of disorderly conduct. The ruling, written by Judge Michael McCormick, supports the state’s interpretation that the offense applies in remote public places and to those regularly engaging in the conduct.
