Farrier Life Ties Ranch to Barrel Racing in West Texas
David Miller, a Texas State Farrier School graduate, works as a mobile farrier serving event horses, ranchers, and riders like Cody Owens. He stresses precision in trimming and shoeing, noting six week cycles, costs around 60 dollars for trim and reshoe, and the need for specialized nails and forging. Miller balances rodeo work with travel to major events, while describing the craft as a young man’s job he enjoys for the care it gives horses.
