Texas school minutes law could give more days off
A new Texas law counts the school year by minutes, not days, allowing districts to add minutes to daily schedules for extra days off. In North Texas Arlington elementary and junior high gain 15 minutes, high schools five minutes, with additional October and April staff days. Frisco and Dallas districts explore minutes boosts and calendar tweaks, while waivers cap total minutes at about 4,200.
