Intensive Mandarin course offered at UTPB in Odessa
University of Texas of the Permian Basin will host an intensive Mandarin course from January 19 to February 19. Rebecca Babcock notes four students from Taiwan’s Hsinping University of Science and Technology will teach locals without cost, aside from a $15 registration fee, with hosting by local families and trips possible. About 35 to 40 students are expected, each receiving a Chinese name, and instruction covers greetings, vocabulary, and basic grammar.

Suspect Arrested After Search Warrant at Spruce Ave Home
Police executed a 9 p.m. search warrant at a Spruce Avenue residence uncovering four bags of cocaine about 3.5 grams and over two pounds of marijuana. Family stabbings at Brittany Place Apartments leave three injured
A 50 year old father Jorge Sablan stabbed his wife Joaquina Sablan and daughter Antonia Sablan before turning the knife on himself.
