ECISD 2006: Bilingual Programs Bible Course and Board Changes

ECISD’s 2006 actions included consolidating bilingual programs at eight campuses into four, shifting about 20 teachers, and reassigning students to schools with all day bilingual education. The district adopted the National Council of Bible Curriculum in Public Schools for high school classes, banned broader contraception instruction, and replaced the Dreamcatcher program with abstinence education. Stadium renovations lagged budget bids, while personnel shakeups included Grady’s probation and Leester Jackson’s guilty plea. Trustees saw board and college leadership changes, and UT Permian Basin progressed toward a doctoral program with state construction funding approved.
