United Airlines jumbo jet hole kills nine over Pacific
A Boeing 747 carrying 354 people lost a right side fuselage panel over the Pacific. Nine passengers died after the hole ripped open as the pilot diverted to Honolulu. Investigators suspected structural failure. two engines failed. Among the missing were six Americans, two Australians, and a New Zealander. Twenty seven treated, five hospitalized.
